'High School Musical' game launches Friday

Movie High Street Musical will see two official videogames released this Friday for the Nintendo Wii and DS formats.

While the Wii title will offer singing to fans of the show, the DS game will target those who prefer dancing.

On Wii, High School Musical: Sing It! is a karaoke-style game that puts players into the shoes of pupils from the film. Three modes of play will be on offer, including Party Mode, which sees friends compete in a singing competition, while Story Mode asks players to choose their favourite character as they sing their way through songs from the movie.

The title will also allow gamers to pick up the Wii Remote to play percussion instruments such as the tambourine, snare drum and cowbell.

On DS, High Scool Musical: Makin' the Cut! is a different game entirely, allowing players to choose a character before competing in a series of musical dance competitions across the US to win the national title.

Gamers will also be able to create video clips from their own choreographed routines, which they can then share with friends.
